So...

So...?

Why does a car wash have an emergency phone number painted on the wall?

Who needed it in the past and what was the emergency?

What should I have known before I pulled in here?

Why did someone try to erase it with oven cleaner?

Say it’s night time... and a pipe burst. You walking your lady from the night on the town home and you see this happening. You try to help. Who do you call so they can tend to this? Well, there you go. Property manager or owner’s phone number is right there. Cops or firefighters can also use that to reach owner

Property owners change so the number was probably no longer valid so someone tried washing it off.

I was very friendly with a dry cleaners guy near me. He closed up the shop and went on vacation out of country. Something happened in his shop and fire alarm went off for some invalid reason. Firefighters had to bust through the door and figure things out, but then the business had a busted door for about a week. I called him because he is a friend and he had a relative come out and make repairs.

In case there’s some sort of fire, either the building or the vehicle in the building, electrical fault of some sort.

They may of changed their number or were getting too many nuisance calls.

As a former gas station manager, we put it in there in case someone was stuck in the car wash because the doors wouldn’t open.

Hope you also installed a pay phone near it... and placed some quarters on it.

Just out of curiosity, why would someone be in a car wash with doors closed?

I’m thinking something much more dangerous and murder-y about it all

Freezing weather, all our local car washes only open the doors as the cars come and go when it’s cold out.

Here in winter the car wash doors open and close automatically below a certain temperature. But also you can be in a car wash when the gantry gets stuck or locked in a cycle. With the number on the wall you can at least use a cell phone to reach someone.

Well for a good answer one must know if it is an automatic car wash or not.

fascinating. Our car washes here have humans operating all sorts of gizmos like sponges and power washers and such. During the rain, they close the whole thing. Also closed at night. Humans are in charge of locking and unlocking. I don’t want to go to a car wash where there are no humans operating that contraption.

they built a car wash at the bottom of the hill where I live (not this one in my post). The humans are supposed to use the scrubber wands to clean various parts of your car before they send you down the motorized tracks into the automated power wash.

The lazy-ass humans cover all the windows with soap so you can’t see them, then go sit back down in the lawn chairs. I went there once. Once.

I have never been inside the car at a car wash. Normally they take the car and stick it on the conveyor belt thing that pushes the car through. This way I can watch how well it’s washed.

I think your car wash and my car wash are not made equally

We have those around here, too. The family cars are rented mules. They get the gas station version of the auto-wash

My good cars never see an automated car wash. Human operated or not.
